INQR
International Network for Quality Rice

The International Network for Quality Rice (INQR) is a platform for collaborators to compile, share, and develop knowledge and materials, and to develop universal standard methods for the characterization and quantification of the traits of rice quality. Quality traits transcend the borders of germplasm classes, so members of the INQR come from rice-producing countries in tropical and subtropical regions. The INQR collaborates with scientists who investigate issues that relate to rice quality and attempts to develop new science into outputs that increase our knowledge of rice quality and our capacity to measure it.

The INQR currently has five taskforces:

  1. Amylose
  2. Measuring physical quality
  3. Quantifying sensory quality
  4. Aromatic compounds
  5. Nutritional quality

The INQR is co-chaired by Dr. Melissa Fitzgerald (IRRI) and Dr. Christine Bergman (University of Nevada). For more information, please contact Melissa (m.fitzgerald@cgiar.org) or Christine (Christine.Bergman@unlv.edu).
