Barrion, won two major awards--a Gold (1st place) Award in the Editing Class by Gene Hettel and Tess Rola and a Bronze (3rd place) Award in the Technical Publications Class both in the Publishing Category.

Gold Award for writing within a specialized publication as well as the overall Outstanding Professional Skill Award in the 5-class Writing Category, for the article, Let's Hope the Bile is Good!, by Aurora Ammayao and Gene Hettel.

IRRI 1998-99: Rice--hunger or hope?

Three Gold awards for IRRI's 1998-99 annual report, Rice: Hunger or Hope?--one in the one- to three-color special report class in the Publishing Category, one for the cover class in the Graphic Design Category, and one for a black and white photo series (Eight in 6 Billion, which appeared in the Report) in the Photography Category.

Bronze award for IRRI's 2000 calendar/diary in the Direct Mail Class of the Publishing Category. It photographically commemorated 40 years of IRRI's research and activities.


1999


IRRI 1997-98: Biodiversity-- maintaining the balance

Three Gold awards for IRRI’s 1997-98 Corporate Report, Biodiversity: Maintaining the Balance; IRRI’s 1998-99 Publications Catalog; and IRRI’s Riceworld Web site. A Bronze award for a color photo series, by Gene and Aurora Hettel, which appeared in the Nov.- Dec. 1998 issue of Tashi Delek, in-flight magazine of Druk Air, the national airline of Bhutan.

Gold award for the IRRI Publications Catalog in the Direct Mail class as well as the overall Outstanding Professional Skill award in the 10-class Publications Category.
