Biodiversity software Technical Bulletins series

Developed by K.G. Schoenly and W.J. Zhang

This series was designed to help researchers:

1) manage and reorganize biodiversity databases;
2) calculate, test, and bias-correct collectors' curves; 3) detect boundaries in ecological landscapes;
4) compare and performance-test extrapolation-based estimators of total taxonomic richness; and
5) detect between-sample differences in community structure.

Technical Bulletin #1: LUMP, LINK, and JOIN:
Utility Programs for Biodiversity Research

Technical Bulletin #2: COLLECT1 and COLLECT2: Programs for Calculating Statistics of Collectors' Curves

Technical Bulletin #3: BOUNDARY: A Program for Detecting Boundaries in Ecological Landscapes

Technical Bulletin #4: EXTSPP1 and EXTSPP2:
Programs for Comparing and Performance-Testing
Eight Extrapolation-Based Estimators of  Total
Taxonomic Richness
Note: An additional free software application (developed by Prof. Robert Colwell at the University of Connecticut for Windows and Macintosh operating systems that computes a variety of biodiversity functions, estimators, and indices based on biotic sampling data) is available online from EstimateS.

Technical Bulletin #5: RARE, SPPDISS, and SPPRANK: Programs for Detecting Between- Sample Differences in Community Structure
