Deepak Mahadev Kasote
About
Deepak Kasote is a biochemist and has core expertise in mass spectrometry (LC/MS, GC-MS, and ICP-MS) and metabolomics (targeted and untargeted). At IRRI, his research work is focused on investigating the distribution of nutrients and bioactives in rice grain using mass-spectrometry based metabolomics approach, volatilomics of traditional scented rice varieties, and exploring arsenic toxicity and its mitigation in rice.
He earned his MSc in Biochemistry and PhD in Chemistry from India. He has a multidisciplinary research background in biochemistry, food chemistry, plant science, bio-analytical chemistry, natural product chemistry/phytochemistry, nanoscience, pharmacology, and nutrition. Deepak has around ten years of postdoctoral research experience having worked as a postdoctoral research fellow, scientist, and research professor in Texas A&M University, USA; The Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen, UK; Yuengnam University, South Korea; Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa; IRSHA, Bharati Vidyapeeth University and Agharkar Research Institute, India.
