About

Stephen Klassen is IRRI's Lead Specialist for Phenotyping and Crop Monitoring. His work covers systems development for high throughput phenotyping and crop monitoring; engineering and methods development for drone, tractor, and gantry based mobile sensor platforms; and provision of service and capacity building for automated drone image capture, processing, and analysis supporting breeding, physiology, genomics, and agronomy.

He joined IRRI in 2009 as an Engineer. Prior to IRRI, he was a Biologist at the US Fish and Wildlife Service and a Senior Research Associate, Crop Physiology at Utah State University. He holds a BSc degree in Biology minor Chemistry and an MSc degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
