Dr. Shin serves as IRRI’s Representative for Asia, coordinating the institute's activities and aligning strategies with regional priorities. He collaborates with government entities and partners to enhance the agri-food sector and acts as the chief spokesperson for IRRI in the region, seeking funding and partnerships. Previously, he was IRRI’s representative in Myanmar (2016-2019) and has held leadership roles in KOTRA, KOICA, Syngenta Seeds Korea, and Monsanto Company.
