Nese Sreenivasulu

Dr. Nese Sreenivasulu is a Principal Scientist at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) with over 20 years of research experience in plant functional genomics, grain quality, and nutrition. He leads the Consumer-driven Grain Quality and Nutrition Research Unit and coordinates the IRRI–India research program.
From 2013 to 2017, he served as Head of the Grain Quality and Nutrition Center at IRRI, where he provided scientific leadership in advancing rice grain quality research, including improvements in milling recovery, sensory and cooking properties, and nutritional value.
Prior to joining IRRI, Nese led the Abiotic Stress Genomics group at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK), focusing on the molecular mechanisms underlying yield stability under drought stress. He also holds adjunct professorships at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), De La Salle University, and the University of Western Australia, reflecting his active engagement in global research and academic collaboration.
