IRRI and Bayer collaborate to provide tailored agronomic information to farmers

The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is partnering with Bayer in the research and development of a mobile platform providing agronomic information and counsel to smallholder farmers in India.

The two organizations have recently signed a Memorandum of Association to conduct an in-depth study with farmers on the usability and effectiveness of the IRRI’s Rice-Wheat Crop Manager (RWCM) within Bayers’ FarmRise™ and roll this out among the paddy growing farmers in India by the end of 2022.

Through this collaboration, rice growers in India will receive agronomy advisory. The collaborators are also looking at expanding the scope of the FarmRise™ services across Southeast Asia in the future. This platform seeks to educate farmers on how to acquire site-specific inputs such as fertilizer recommendations based on their soil fertility profiles.
