Robert Caudwell, IRRI representative for Myanmar, has 25 years of diverse experience in agriculture and rural economic development, including agricultural research and innovation, value chain and agribusiness development, market systems development, institutional development and capacity building, agricultural extension, financial services for agriculture, agricultural policy, and sustainability and the environment.
Prior to joining IRRI, Robert has long-term experience working in Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, and Papua New Guinea, and short-term experience in Costa Rica, Ghana, Mali, and the Solomon Islands. He has experience in rice farming systems and value chain development, including crop diversification, rice-pulses, and rice-fish farming systems as well as public-private partnerships from Indonesia and Bangladesh.
His work experience includes jobs with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA). He also has significant experience working in large scale, international agribusiness.
